Bega Valley Spontaneous Volunteer Concierge Service - PILOT

Bega Valley Spontaneous Volunteer Concierge Project ( BV SVCS)

The Eden Community Access Centre is excited to announce the launch of the Bega Valley Spontaneous Volunteers Concierge Service Pilot Project, an initiative aimed at harnessing the power of community-driven volunteerism.

The Bega Valley Spontaneous Volunteers Concierge Service pilot aims to efficiently mobilise and manage spontaneous volunteers during emergencies and disasters. This service will act as a bridge between volunteers and organisations ensuring a streamlined and effective response. This service would also provide a ‘No wrong door policy’ for disaster affected community member referrals to relevant support agencies.

How Will this work:

The BV SVCS seeks to be a community-driven project that is looking to engage local residents. We believe that the best way to address the unique needs of our community is through the active participation and input of its members. Therefore, we are calling on all community members to contribute their ideas, feedback, and support to help guide and develop this initiative.

Funding

The Spontaneous Volunteers Support Program (SVSP) has been established in response to the 2022 NSW Flood Inquiry’s recommendation that the NSW Government create a program to support better coordination of community efforts to save life and property during a disaster. The Program is also informed by the NSW Government Review of Emergency Volunteering (2023).

This project is made possible through the generous support of the NSW Government Supporting Spontaneous Volunteers Program grant initiative.

Connection to ECAC’s mission statement

The Eden Community Access Centre (ECAC) is a not-for-profit, community based, organisation whose mission is to support people in need. ECAC particularly supports vulnerable populations including low socio-economic, aboriginal, disabled, rural & remote, those experiencing trauma following natural disasters and the aged. It is ECAC’s remit to improve individual and community social and economic wellbeing.

This project aligns with ECAC Mission to support people in need. This project is ECAC continued commitment to Disaster Preparedness within the Bega Valley.

How Can I Help?

We invite all community members to join us in this exciting new venture. Your input and participation are crucial to the success of the Bega Valley Spontaneous Volunteers Service. Together, we can build a stronger, more connected community.
