Project Coordinator (Full Time) & Project Support Officer (Part Time)

OUR ORGANISATION – Eden Community Access Centre Inc. is a leading provider of community support services and have been assisting people experiencing disadvantage for over 20 years. We deliver a broad range of programs and services to Eden and the surrounding community. Reducing the Risk Project is a youth centered disaster risk reduction program that will focus on mitigating the risk of disaster by building capacity in young people to identify, manage and reduce their risk of exposure to localised hazards. We have 2 positions which are funded through to 30 June 2024

The Project Co-coordinator will be responsible for the design, delivery and evaluation of targeted programs and projects that will support young people to identify, manage and reduce disaster risk to themselves and their community: 

  • Empower young people to play an active role in disaster risk reduction in their community.
  • Support young people to understand and identify disaster risk in their community 
  •  Help the youth community be more engaged and equipped with the knowledge and capacity to take actions to reduce disaster risk
  • Identify place-based community risks and needs 
  • Work with stakeholders including the Disaster Preparedness Project team to identify and/or develop and conduct youth focussed disaster risk reduction programs, projects and activities.
  • Evaluate/review programs based on consultation and participant surveys
  • Undertake final review and generate a report 
  • Reporting to the ECAC Manager, you will work closely with the Disaster Preparedness Project team. 
  • A solid understanding of community and local community development principles and a passion for building positive and proactive relationships is required. 

The Project Support Officer will provide administrative support and work closely with the Project Co-coordinator to develop and deliver targeted programs and projects that will support young people to identify, manage and reduce disaster risk to themselves and their community:  Reporting to the ECAC Manager, you will work closely with the Disaster Preparedness Project team. 

  • Provide comprehensive administrative and technical support to the Project Coordinator
  • Organise events
  • Maintain accurate records and filing systems, including a data base contacts
  • Engage with young people
  • Support young people to understand and identify disaster risk in their community 
  • Help the youth community be more engaged and equipped with the knowledge and capacity to take actions to reduce disaster risk
  • Assist in the design, development and delivery of youth centred programs
  • Work with stakeholders including the Disaster Preparedness Project team to identify and/or develop youth focussed disaster risk reduction programs and projects
  • Assist with ongoing evaluation of the project and compilation of monthly reports and the final report 
  • Other tasks as required
